Powerhouse Liquigas-Cannondale team steps up to SRAM’s DoubleTap shifting technology and SRAM RED componentry

Liquigas-Cannondale was the most successful Grand Tour team of 2010, taking victories in the Giro d¹Italia and the Vuelta a España. The formula for the team will not change in 2011, again aiming at the top steps of podiums with champions Ivan Basso (ITA) and Vincenzo Nibali (ITA). Most notably, the Italian-based team will ride the world¹s lightest, fastest and most efficient mechanical gruppo for 2011, SRAM RED.

SRAM RED has an incredibly successful heritage in racing, including wins in the past two Tours¹ de France, and will provide Liquigas-Cannondale riders with precise shifts, superior ergonomics, and light weight thanks to an array of advanced materials. The team¹s Cannondale SuperSix Hi-Mod bikes will be equipped with SRAM RED¹s 58g titanium cage front derailleur, the 153g rear derailleur that comes standard with hybrid ceramic pulley bearings, the innovative DoubleTap® shift levers, skeletonized dual pivot brake calipers, the stronger and smoother PC-1091R chain, OG-1090 cassette, and the easy action of SRAM¹s Pro Cable System by Gore® RideOn.

“Cannondale and SRAM have a long history of innovation and development. Both teams continue to push the boundaries of cycling products. We are excited and look forward to building upon the success of 2010,” said Bob Burbank, General Manager, Cannondale.

“We are incredibly excited to work with Liquigas-Cannondale,” stated SRAM¹s European Sponsorship Manager, Jason Phillips. “This team is competitive through the entire season, they have incredible leadership in Nibali and Basso, and we expect great things from young superstars Peter Sagan (SVK) and Ted King (USA). The riders are excited about the componentry, how comfortable it is and how quickly it shifts, and the mechanics noted the ease of set-up and the custom features, including reach adjust.”

Best-in-class SRAM RED componentry has been guided by athletes to wins at every major road race on the planet, and is the equipment of choice for eight top UCI ProTeams in 2011. Precise shifting, perfect ergonomics, and incredibly light weight, aligned with SRAM¹s innovative technologies, including DoubleTap® and Exact Actuation, provide the world¹s best riders with the world¹s best gruppo.
