One of the main problems of any wheelchair is that, it can only be front-mounted. This is a problem because wherever a person is sitting, like a couch, bed, toilet seat or a chair, his front side is always free and his body is always resting on his back. For this reason paraplegic people have to lift their body with their arms and throw themselves onto their wheelchairs in order to transfer their body from a bed or a chair. This motion of throwing the body is difficult, dangerous, and almost impossible to do without assistance, especially for older and/or overweight people. Standing up and health...
As a mandatory daily exercise, paraplegic people must stay in a standing position for approximately one hour everyday. This exercise is of vital importance for preserving the body’s health. Existing devices for standing up are either very slow or require too much effort. In contrast, it is very easy and quick to stand up and sit down with Tek Robotic Mobilization Device. The suspension system containing gas spring balances the weight of the user so that standing up requires just a gentle pull. From the moment they wake up, users can board the device and stand up without needing assistance from others. This comfort encourages the users to stand up countless times, and to do various daily activities while standing up.

Correct standing position...
Standing wheelchair-like devices that can move while standing up, usually cannot lift their users to a fully upright position. HKAFO (long leg braces) like walking aids can only be used with canes or walkers. To maintain his/her balance while using these devices the user must manually hold these canes or walkers. In contrast, Tek Robotic Mobilization Device holds the user in an upright position while leaving his hands free. This position makes it possible for the user to reach everywhere with free hands and perform many daily tasks such as cooking, washing dishes, ironing, etc. comfortably in environments that are typically not set up for people with physical handicaps. How do I know the Tek RMD is safe?

In designing the Tek RMD, we prioritized safety above all else. Because you can easily get into the device from the back without assistance, the Tek RMD eliminates the often-dangerous maneuvers that are required for getting into wheelchairs (like using upper-body strength and momentum to hoist into it). With the Tek RMD, your own weight is used for stability, and the device holds key balance points to prohibit unwanted movements and keep you steady.

We rigorously tested the Tek RMD before releasing it to the market, including putting it through extensive trials at Heidelberg University Hospital, where paraplegics tested the device for themselves and offered valuable feedback that made the Tek RMD even better. By the time we begin shipping the Tek RMD, we will have undergone a series of TÜV (Technical Inspection Association) tests to verify that the Tek RMD meets international safety standards.

Is the Tek RMD appropriate for my height/weight?

The Tek RMD is appropriate for users from 4’7” (140 cm) to 6’3” (190 cm) and can support weights from 88 lbs (40kg) to 265 lbs (120kg).

Where can I use the Tek RMD?

The Tek RMD allows for free, independent movement in most indoor spaces, such as the home, office, school or shopping mall. Its compact dimensions, 16.5" wide and 29.5" long (42 cm X 75 cm) and weighing 242.5 lbs (110 kg), allow it to fit through narrow spaces that are inaccessible to wheelchairs. When not in use, the Tek RMD can simply be maneuvered by remote control to an out-of-the-way place, ensuring that you can sit on a couch or chair, free from your mobility device altogether.

Note that the Tek RMD is not designed for outdoor use.

How does the Tek RMD run and operate?

Like motorized wheelchairs, the Tek RMD is battery-operated. The device works by balancing the weight of the user with a pressurized spring, similar to those found in adjustable office chairs, so that standing up requires just a gentle pull.

How do you charge the Tek RMD?

The device comes with a battery charger, which is plugged into a traditional electrical outlet. The device is fully charged in 4.5 hours and can be charged overnight.

How long will it stay charged?

On average a change will last about 1 to 2 days depending the weight of the user and the floor surface.

How do you transport the Tek RMD?

The device can be transported in an SUV-sized vehicle. Using its remote control, the Tek RMD can be easily maneuvered up and down ramps for easy loading and unloading.
